2. Information We Collect
LaliMath is designed to collect as little data as possible. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, location, photos, contacts, or any other personally identifying information.
The following data is collected automatically when you use the app:
| Data Type | What It Includes | Linked to You? | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Usage analytics | Which grade level, operation, difficulty, and features are used (e.g. "PDF exported", "grade switched"). No content is recorded. | No | Improve the app |
| Crash reports | Stack traces and device state at the time of a crash (OS version, device model, app version). No user-generated content. | No | Fix bugs |
| Screen views | Which screens are visited and in what order. | No | Understand navigation flows |
| Device & app info | OS version, app version, device model, language/locale. Collected automatically by Firebase. | No | Compatibility & crash context |
We do not collect:
- Name, email, or any account information (no login required)
- Location or GPS data
- Camera, microphone, or contacts
- Payment information
- The actual math answers or worksheet content entered by the user
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA/GAID) for ad targeting
3. How We Use Your Information
The anonymous data we collect is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- App improvement: Understanding which features are used most helps us prioritise what to build next.
- Bug fixing: Crash reports tell us where and why the app crashes so we can fix issues quickly.
- Compatibility: Device and OS data helps us ensure the app works well across different hardware.
We do not use the data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.
4. Third-Party Services
LaliMath uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy which governs how they process data on our behalf:
Google Firebase Analytics
Provided by Google LLC. Used to collect anonymous usage events (see Section 2). Firebase does not link events to a specific user identity in our configuration. Firebase may collect a random app-instance identifier to aggregate data.
Google Firebase Crashlytics
Provided by Google LLC. Used to capture crash reports. Crashlytics assigns a random installation UUID to group crashes from the same device without identifying the person using it.
Both services are operated by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Google acts as a data processor on our behalf under a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) that includes Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers outside the EEA.
We do not use any other third-party SDKs, advertising networks, or analytics providers.
5. Data Retention
Anonymous analytics events are retained in Firebase for 14 months (Firebase's default rolling window), after which they are automatically deleted.
Crash reports are retained for 90 days in Firebase Crashlytics.
Because we do not collect personal data that is linked to you, there is no individual record to delete upon request — the data cannot be attributed back to any person.
6. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)
LaliMath is an educational app intended for use by children aged 5 and above, typically under parental supervision. We take children's privacy extremely seriously.
With respect to applicable law:
- COPPA (USA): LaliMath does not collect personal information from children under 13 as defined by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. No parental consent is required because no personal data is collected.
- GDPR-K (EU/EEA): The app does not process personal data of children. The anonymous analytics data collected cannot be attributed to any individual child or adult.
- Apple App Store: The app is rated 4+ and does not contain user-generated content or social features.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information about a child, please contact us immediately at adrian@familylabsoftware.com and we will take steps to delete it.
7. Your Rights
Under GDPR (EU/EEA residents)
As a data controller established in Romania (an EU member state), we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679. Because we do not process personal data that is linked to you, most GDPR rights apply in a limited way. However, you have the right to:
- Access: Request confirmation of whether we hold any personal data about you.
- Erasure: Request deletion of personal data. (Since we hold no data linked to you, there is nothing to delete.)
- Object: Object to processing. You can opt out of Firebase Analytics at the device level by enabling "Limit Ad Tracking" on iOS or "Opt out of Ads Personalization" on Android.
- Lodge a complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In Romania, this is the Autoritatea Națională de Supraveghere a Prelucrării Datelor cu Caracter Personal (ANSPDCP).
Under CCPA (California residents)
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected and to request deletion — but since we do not collect personal information linked to you, there is nothing to disclose or delete.
Opt-out of analytics
You can limit data collection at the OS level:
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → disable tracking for LaliMath
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
8. Data Security
All data transmitted to Firebase is encrypted in transit using TLS. Firebase stores data in Google's infrastructure, which maintains industry-standard security certifications (ISO 27001, SOC 2, SOC 3).
The app itself does not store any data locally beyond the operating state needed to render the current worksheet (which is never transmitted anywhere).
9. International Data Transfers
Firebase services are operated by Google LLC in the United States. Anonymous analytics data may therefore be transferred to and stored in the USA. This transfer is covered by Google's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) under Article 46 GDPR, ensuring an adequate level of protection.
You can review Google's data transfer mechanisms at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, if changes are material, notify users through the App Store update notes.
Your continued use of LaliMath after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
